Quick, tell me what you know about Stewart Cink.
What ya got? Anything?
Well, Mr. Cink is really one of the best golfers in the world. He has 12 professional wins, five on the PGA Tour. During his career he has top 10s in every major championship, including a T3 in last year’s Masters. He was a member of Team USA in last year’s Ryder Cup and acquitted himself quite well.
Oh, and he’s currently ranked No. 18 in the World Golf Rankings. By all rights he’s capable of contending at the Masters this weekend.
And he can also keep you entertained with his tweets from Augusta. That’s right, Cink can be found at http://twitter.com/stewartcink.
It’s rather good material. Photos from the practice rounds, interaction with fans and insight from the grounds at the Masters. It’s been entertaining stuff all week.
If you’re looking for a golfer to follow on both the course and the Twittersphere, Cink is your man. We’re rooting for him if for no other reason to see if he Twitters between signing his score card and putting on the green jacket if he wins.
Now this brings us to Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis. Weis can also be found on Twitter at http://twitter.com/NDHFC.
Weis is drawing quite a following, as you can imagine with the rather, uh, intense nature of Notre Dame football fans. It also appears he’s embracing Twitter. Word is he actually updates it himself rather than having some media relations guy do it.
Cink and Weis are two more in a growing list of people in the sports world on Twitter (Paul Pierce, Shaq, Mark Cuban, Charlie Villanueva…). But of all those guys, I’ve found Cink’s to be the most genuine.
Go get ’em Stewart!
